Mount Everest Permit- Required Permits to visit Mount Everest
Located in both Nepal and Tibet, Mount Everest(8848m) is the highest mountain in the world. Although it occasionally retains some of us forever, in return, Mount Everest provides great insight into ourselves and humanity for the rest of us. This lesson may be the most powerful gift that Everest gives to all of us: whether we are on the summit, on a hike, or just an Everest base camp, Mount Everest shows you a great dream, overcome fear, and sometimes wins after the most desperate prospects.
However, if you want to experience Everest one day, then it is time to start. So let's start from scratch - finally, we can help you achieve this Mount Everest dream.
What documents do you need when you visit Mount Everest from Tibet?
As a foreigner traveler, you need to apply for various permits to enter Tibet. So what documents are needed to plan a trip to Mount Everest? You need three documents as below,
1 Chinese visa or China group visa: As Tibet belongs to China, you need to apply for a Chinese visa so that you can enter China. For Chinese visa, you can apply for it from the Chinese Embassy in your home country in advance. But if you enter Tibet from Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, you are required to apply for China Group Visa in Kathmandu within 3-working days. Even if you have had a Chinese visa, your Chinese visa will be canceled if you enter Tibet from Kathmandu.
2 Tibet Visa(Tibet Travel Permit): It’s a necessary document for a foreigner traveler to enter Tibet. You need to get it before the tour starts with a local Tibet travel agency like Tibet Travel Dream. According to the policy from Tibet Tourism Bureau, Tibet is not allowed independent travel, so you need to book a Tibet tour with a Tibet travel agency, who can get all your Tibet Permits. You must present a valid Tibet Visa before boarding the train or plane.
Kindly Note: Usually, we need your passport and Chinese visa copies to get your Tibet Visa in Lhasa before the tour starts. This process generally takes 7-12 working days, so you are suggested to book Lhasa Everest tour with us a month in advance.
3 Alien’s Travel Permit(PSB): It’s a special permit when you visit Mount Everest and another area outside of Lhasa. You can apply for it from Bureau of public security when you arrive in Lhasa. It takes about 30mins to get it with your passport, Tibet Travel permit, and Chinese visa. Don’t worry, as a local travel agency, we can help you get it. : )
If you hold these three documents, you can travel to Everest Base Camp from Lhasa. When you reach Everest Base Camp, you will have a chance to appreciate the stunning sunset or sunrise of Everest. Also, you will visit Rongbuk Monastery, the highest temple in the world.
Kindly Note: If you would like to travel to any place higher than EBC, such as Advance Base Camp (ABC, 6500 meters above sea level), etc. You are required to apply for anther permits, Mountaineering permit, which issued by Tibet Mountaineering Association. Besides, you need to hire a professional mountaineering coordinator.
As a professional Tibet travel agency, Tibet Travel Dream provides one-stop service for all of the above permits. All you need to do is give us your passport and visa information. If you are planning to visit Everest from Lhasa, please feel free to contact us now! We are always at your service.
